7 major awards for Star Records

THE most illustrious recording label once again proves who’s on top.

Star Records continues to uphold its mission to provide total entertainment through audio and video worldwide.

Having this in mind, Star Records has been able to deliver exceptional and brilliant music content from different artists for Filipinos all around the globe!

This excellence has been recognized by IFM 93.9, one of the most heard and one of the largest radio networks in the Philippines with 16 FM radio stations nationwide.

Through their annual Pinoy Music Awards, recording artists, their works and the people behind them are given due credit and appreciation for their outstanding creations. The nominees were selected through nationwide airplay, requests and through IFM’s radio hit charts from their 16 radio stations. An annual event, the 2nd IFM Pinoy Music Awards was held at Cinema 4, SM Megamall last February 1, 2008 and hosted by IFM DJ Rob and singer/actress/VJ Nikki Gil.

For this year, Star Records collected 6 awards including Kim Chiu’s Crazy Love as Best Song Performed by a Female Performer as well as Most Popular Song of the Year for the same song. Even though Kim Chiu started her singing career late last year, she has already proven to be a very promising recording artist. Another well-loved talent is Erik Santos who won the award Best Song Performed by a Male Performer for the love song Your Love. Erik Santos also won the same award during the 1st IFM Pinoy Music Awards for his song, I’ll Never Go. Being a multi-awarded singer, he has once more caught attention for his effortless flair for singing.

Two brilliant and well-rounded performers from the reality based show Pinoy Dream Academy joined forces to create beautiful music. Yeng Constantino and RJ Jimenez sang together and was honored with a Most Popular Song by a Duo award for their rendition of If We fall in Love. Another title from Yeng Constantino that was given recognition was the award Extremely Requested Videoke Song for Hawak Kamay, which she both wrote and sang for the comedy film, Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo. The song Dododo dadada sung by host Willie Revillame from the number one noontime game show Wowowee tops the charts and the hearts of listeners as it won the Most Popular Novelty Song award.
