Jericho Rosales to star with Hollywood star Briana Evigan

Jericho Rosales and Step Up 2 The Streets lead star Briana Evigan will do a movie this coming March entitled I Luv U Virus.

Si Briana ang female lead sa Hollywood movie na coming soon sa mga sinehan at darating siya rito sa next month para mag-shooting. Kumita ng U.S.$26 million ang Step Up 2 The Streets when it opened in the States.

Habang sinusulat namin ito, napag-alaman ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na number two na ito sa box-office sa Los Angeles.

Hindi sinabi sa PEP ang exact date ng dating ni Briana, basta sometime in March at ang gagawin niyang pelikula'y may pamagat na I Luv U Virus. Our very own Jericho Rosales ang leading man dito ng Hollywood actress, sa pelikulang ang description sa PEP ay "cute love story."

Tinanggap daw ni Briana ang I Luv U Virus noong hindi pa siya masyadong sikat. Pero ngayon, naglalakihang billboard na niya ang makikita sa Hollywood. Tiyak na kilala siya ng Pinoy fans at hihintayin ang kanyang pagdating para makita siya nang personal.

Maraming nakasabay na mag-audition si Jericho, mga magagaling at sikat na aktor. Pero siya ang nagustuhan at napili ng Radiant Films, producer ng movie. Ang Fil-Am director na si Francis dela Torre ang direktor ng pelikula at siyang nakakita kay Jericho nang mag-concert ito sa Metrophi sa Metrowalk. Kasama nito noon ang American friend na magiging director of photography ng I Love U Virus.

"My grandma holds first in my heart," reveals self-confessed lola's girl Marian Rivera during her interview with marie claire.

By now, everyone knows the story of how Marian Rivera came to be a household name, thanks to GMA-7's top-rating primetime soap Marimar. How the 22-year-old actress was born in Spain, raised by her grandmother in Cavite, landed leading roles in daytime soaps, and got her biggest break to date. But beyond the surface, who is Marian Rivera, really?

As Marian herself reveals to marie claire magazine, she's a lola's girl. "Of course, I love my mom, too," she says, "But my grandma holds first place in my heart." She is so close to her grandmother that leaving her behind in Cavite to pursue her showbiz career is one of the major turning points in her life. "Since childhood, it's always been the two of us. Always," Marian shares, "Then I made the excruciating decision to leave her because I wanted to work." She starts to tear up before saying, "It was as if after she took care of me, I just suddenly abandoned her to live my own life. That's the hardest and most painful part of it all."

Despite being away from her grandmother, Marian brings with her a deep faith that was instilled since childhood. Laughingly, she tells marie claire how she would even miss classes just to hear Mass and even went to church right after the Marimar audition. "Lahat ng simbahang puwedeng pasukan, pinasok ko," she says, "As long as my schedule permits, I still go to Baclaran every Wednesday."

Her grandmother also taught her to stand on her own feet, lessons that proved to be valuable when Marian's career had yet to peak and she found herself washing her own clothes by hand and lugging her own things to shoots, a far cry from her pampered existence in Cavite. Marian learned to be her own person, unafraid to be true to herself. "I didn't finish college just to be belittled by anyone—showbiz or not," Marian asserts, "My principle in life is if you're kind to me, I'll be kinder to you. Pero 'pag tinarantado mo ako, mas tarantado ako sa ‘yo. I'll just reflect the way you treat me."

Such candor may be rare in showbiz, but Marian is quick to say that she has learned to compromise with showbiz. "I learned to [keep] my temper [in control], makibagay sa lahat ng tao, so they'd have nothing to say about me." Having to deal with all sorts of people prompts Marian to recall her experience of taking up a three-month practicum in the National Mental Hospital. "Mas mahirap pa nga pakisamahan ‘yung mga normal eh," she says, "Kasi [the mental patients], they're real people. Whatever they feel, nilalabas nila. When they're mad, they really show it."

She explains that people in the mental hospital were extremely sensitive and would notice if you cover your nose or try to curb the urge to gag, saying, "Working in the mental hospital requires intense love and understanding." With that, it becomes clear that there is so much more to Marian than her Marimar persona: an actress who remains unafraid to be the woman her grandmother brought her up to be, a woman who knows where she wants to go but will not step on anyone just to get there. Of her journey to the top, she says, "Independence, self-confidence, knowing what's right and wrong, the will to act, and faith all led me to where I am now."

Glaiza de Castro hurts self while taping a scene for "Kaputol ng Isang Awit"

All smiles now, but Glaiza de Castro was in pain when she had an accident while taping a scene for Kaputol ng Isang Awit.

Naaksidente si Glaiza de Castro sa taping ng Kaputol ng Isang Awit sa Subic nitong nakaraang Lunes, Pebrero 25.

Ang tungkol dito ang agad naming itinanong kay Glaiza nang makausap siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa presscon kagabi, February 26, sa 17^th floor ng GMA Network ng Kaputol Ng Isang Awit.

"Ayos naman, nakakakanta na ako kanina," nakangiti pero halatang in pain pa rin na bungad na kuwento sa amin ni Glaiza.

HOW IT HAPPENED. Kuwento ni Glaiza, "Yung una...yung buong araw na yun kahapon, parang malapit talaga ako sa aksidente. Ang eksena po, kunwari nasusunog yung gown ko.

"May double ako nun. Nung pag-exit nung double, siyempre ako na. ‘Tapos tingin-tingin ako sa tao, parang napahiya. Pag-exit ko, hindi ko nakita yung slippery floor. ‘Tapos yung sapatos ko—kasi hindi sa akin—masikip ‘tapos madulas. So, pag-exit ko, bumagsak ako, flat on the floor!

"Yung puwet ko po ang tumama. Yung ulo, naalalayan ko, kaya ‘eto, medyo may galos."

Tumama rin daw ang ulo niya, pero hindi malakas ang pagkakahataw sa sahig.

"Naalalayan ko siya kaagad, tumama rin pero hindi ganun kalakas yung impact. Yung puwet ko talaga yung narinig ko na tumunog..." patuloy na kuwento ni Glaiza.

Isinakay kaagad sa stretcher si Glaiza dahil hindi na ito makabangon at makakilos.

"Opo, parang nandun sila kaagad. Hindi ako makatayo, e. Basang-basa pa ako nun, kasi binuhusan ako ng juice sa eksena, dahil kailangan nga mapatay yung apoy kunwari. Nanginginig na rin ako sa sobrang lamig dahil parang 3 a.m. na rin nun. ‘Tapos ang dami na ring technical problems. So, hassle talaga nu'ng mga oras na yun," lahad ng young actress.

Sinabihan ang mga kasama ni Glaiza na dalhin agad sa ospital ang young actress, pero mismong si Glaiza ang tumanggi.

"Sabi ko, huwag na lang, e. Dahil sabi ko, kaya ko pa naman. Sabi nila, dumiretso raw kami, ‘tapos kailangan daw nila akong ipa-X-ray. Yung sa likod ko nga po, kung ano man ang nangyari. Baka may something."

Dumiretso ba siya sa ospital?

"Hindi po, nagpahinga na lang ako," sagot niya.

May nararamdaman pa ba siyang sakit?

"Meron po, pero konting-konti na lang. Kaya ko pa. Dito po sa lower back, konting pain na lang," paglalarawa niya.

Ngayong araw na ito, February 27, pupunta si Glaiza sa doktor para magpa-check-up.

HIGH RATINGS WOULD HELP EASE THE PAIN. Isa sa mga nag-worry nang husto para kay Glaiza ay ang leading man niya sa Kaputol ng Isang Awit na si Marky Cielo. Pati na rin ang mga co-stars niyang sina Lovi Poe at Jolo Revilla ay hindi maiwasang mag-alala.

Very positive namang sinabi ni Glaiza na naniniwala siyang ang kapalit ng sakit na dinanas niya ay mataas na ratings ng kanilang Sine Novela na magsisimula na sa March 3, Lunes, sa Dramarama sa Hapon. Ito ay mula sa direksyon ni Mike Tuviera.

KC Concepcion willing to do a movie with Richard Gutierrez to end network war

"If this will end the network war, I would gladly do it. Wala namang nangyayari, puro sa diyaryo lang ‘yan. Sana mangyari sa totoong buhay para masimulan na," says KC Concepcion about an offer to do a movie with Richard Gutierrez.

Napamangha ang marami nang dumating si KC Concepcion sa press conference niya bilang endorser ng Sony Cybershot kanina, February 28, sa Trade Hall 1 ng SM Megmall.

Hindi tinantanan ng media si KC hangga't hindi siya nagpapaunlak ng interview. Hindi maikakaila na uhaw ang media sa mga mga sasabihin ng Megadaughter.

END THE NETWORK WAR. Halata sa mga mata ni KC ang excitement nang tanungin kung nakarating na sa kanya ang offer ng GMA Films na i-produce siya ng pelikula. Kung nagkataon, maaaring maging co-producer ng GMA Films ang rival film outfit nitong Star Cinema ng ABS-CBN. Sa Star Cinema balitang gagawa ng una niyang pelikula ang Megadaughter na posibleng pagtambalan nila ni John Lloyd Cruz.

Sa naturang offer ng GMA Films, makakatambal ni KC ang Prince of Primetime ng Kapuso network na si Richard Gutierrez. Nali-link din ngayon si KC kay Richard.

Kung saka-sakaling tanggapin ni KC ang naturang offer, ito na marahil ang magtatapos sa network war sa pagitan ng ABS-CBN at GMA-7.

"One thing I can say, hindi ako sang-ayon sa network war," pahayag ni KC. "It would be great in the sense na may bigger purpose than just a loveteam. May higher purpose. If this will end the network war, I would gladly do it. Wala namang nangyayari, puro sa diyaryo lang ‘yan. Sana mangyari sa totoong buhay para masimulan na."

Equally excited naman ang GMA Films president na si Annette Gozon-Abrogar nang kumpirmahin niya ang offer kay KC.

"Nagpadala na kami ng feeler sa Star Cinema kung gusto nilang i-co-produce ang KC-Richard Gutierrez movie," kuwento ni Ms. Annette sa PEP. "Kami namang mga film producers, nakatuon sa ikakabuti o sa gusto ng mga manonood. Kaya yung network war, wala naman talaga ‘yan. The film should be for the good of the Filipino viewers."

Dagdag pa ng big boss ng GMA Films, kung maaayos na ang usapan, maaaring hindi matapos ang taon at matutuloy na rin ang pelikula ng dekada.

THE REAL SCORE. Minsan nang sinabi ni Richard Gutierrez habang nasa lie-detector test sa segment ng kanyang birthday special na "A Handsome Journey" na espesyal daw sa kanya si KC.

Kilig na kilig ang mga miyembro ng media kanina nang tanungin ang dalaga kung totoo ngang nagpadala ng bulaklak si Richard sa kanya noong Araw ng mga Puso.

"Buti na lang favorite ko yung flowers na pinadala niya [Richard]!" ang sagot ni KC sa tsismis na labis ikinakilig ng marami.

Nagpadala raw ang binata ng maraming long-stemmed roses noong Valentine's day.

Itinanong din ng GMA Films at PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kung totoo ngang nanliligaw sa kanya si Richard.

"Ask him, ask him na lang. I don't know what his intentions are, but we're friends. If there's anything more that he wants out of it, then that's for him to answer, not for me," sabi ng panganay ni Sharon Cuneta.

Angel Locsin Reinvents Herself in Cosmopolitan Magazine

Angel Locsin is gracing the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine for the third time, but this one’s different from what she did from any magazines before - she posed in a swimsuit!

Despite being one of the biggest names in the industry today, Angel was surprisingly shy at the Cosmo cover shoot, getting quite jittery over the sexy summer shoot and clowning around with the Cosmo team just to loosen up. The jitters don’t show in Angel’s confident pose, as she says, “Lahat naman tayong mga babae, may body issues, di ba? But you should be happy with your body and comfortable in your own skin.”

For Angel, being comfortable in your own skin shows in the way you carry yourself. She encourages Cosmo girls everywhere to make an effort to always look presentable and even dare to be kikay.

“Iba rin yung feeling ‘pag nakaayos kapag lalabas ka’t alam mong okay ang itsura mo, ready kang harapin kahit sino.” Angel points out, “It’s great to be in jeans and T-shirt, but it’s also great to be in a dress.”

Angel continues to strive towards becoming a better version of herself by branching out of her comfort zone. Since 2007, she has taken time off to study fashion in London, become a first-time producer with the movie Angels, and is now learning how to play the guitar. “You have to keep on learning,” she says, “You shouldn’t get complacent.” Clearly, Angel has become a woman of substance.

Regine Velasquez’ Maalaala Mo Kaya Episode is Technically at No. 11

Another highly-anticipated episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya aired last Friday night with no less than the songbird herself, Regine Velasquez, as the star opposite Albert Martinez. The said episode registered a 13.4 percent rating, almost 4% lower than the previous week wich starred KC Concepcion. Nevertheless, both episodes placed 10th in the primetime race. However, if TV Patrol and Kung Fu Kids did not tie in 6th place, the Regine Velasquez MMK episode is just at no. 11.

Last Saturday, Eat Bulaga ruled the daytime block while Kapuso Mo Jessica Sojo was the leader in primetime. ABS-CBN’s new reality show, Got 2B Fit Challenge as hosted by Mariel Rodriguez debuted at no. 9 in the primetime block with 10.7 percent.

Last Sunday, the no. 1 daytime program was Kapuso Sine Special: I Will Always Love You starring Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin. In the primetime race, Mel and Joey was able to beat former leaders Kap’s Amazing Stories and Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok in the no. 1 spot.

FIRST READ ON PEP: Marian Rivera confirms she is the new "Dyesebel"

Hindi pa man nakaka-face-to-face ni Manay Ethel Ramos—manager ni Aga Muhlach at kinu-consider na "Dean of Phil Entertainment Journalism"—si Marian Rivera na ini-interview that very moment ni Ricky Lo ng Philippine Star, ay panay papuri na ang comment ni Ms. Ramos sa bida ng Marimar.

"Very pleasant, very positive ang aura niya, always smiling," sabi ni Ms. Ramos habang patingin-tingin kay Marian.

Nangyari yun sa launching kay Marian as endorser ng Karimadon clothing line earlier today, February 22, held at the Roma Maria restaurant in Podium Mall.

"Two years ago, nang nag-i-start pa lang ako sa showbiz, lumapit ako sa Karimadon to ask for their help kung puwedeng damitan nila ako. To my surprise, hindi na ako nagdalawang-salita, pumayag silang tulungan ako kahit unknown ako. So nitong lumalabas na ako sa Marimar at sila naman ang lumapit kung puwede akong mag-endorse ng Karimadon, siyempre po, yes kaagad ako," umpisang kuwento ni Marian nang makaharap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), kasama si Manay Ethel, and other members of the press.

HOT PROPERTY. No doubt, very hot property ngayon si Marian, hindi lang sa TV kundi pati sa pelikula at sa commercial endorsements. Pa-100 million pesos na raw this weekend ang box-office take ng pinagtambalan nila ni Richard Gutierrez na My Best Friend's Girlfriend.

Hindi bumababa sa 40 percent ang daily ratings ng Marimar sa Mega Manila—sa maniwala man tayo o hindi sa ratings—na matatapos na next month, at niri-ready na ang susunod niyang fantaserye, ang Dyesebel.

GOING TOPLESS. Yes, inamin ni Marian na willing at ready siyang mag-topless sa Dyesebel.

"Ayoko kasing maasiwa sa mga underwater scenes na lumalangoy ako bilang sirena, e, may inilalagay pang takip sa dibdib na hindi naman ako kumportable. Kaya inilagay ko na po sa isip ko na I'll play the role of Dyesebel, normal sa kanya bilang mermaid na topless siya.

"Napanood ko yung Dyesebel ni Alice Dixson at topless po siya doon. Hindi siya conscious kaya magandang lumabas," dagdag ni Marian.

"Kahit naman magta-topless ako, hindi naman papayag si Direk Joyce Bernal, ganundin ang GMA-7, na magiging malaswa ang execution. Hindi gagawa ang network ng palabas na magpapababa ng integridad nila. Ang Dyesebel ay for general patronage, at sinisiguro kong mapapanood lalo ito ng mga bata," pahayag pa ni Marian.

Sa thanksgiving party ng My Best Friend's Girlfriend nung Sunday, February 17, na-late si Marian dahil may pictorial siya for Dyesebel. Tinanong namin siya kung nag-topless na siya dun sa pictorial.

"Yes!" buong ningning niyang pag-amin. "Ready na ako sa ganun when I accepted the project."

SWIMMING LESSONS. Bilang paghahanda sa pagganap niya bilang Dyesebel, nakatakdang mag-undergo ng intensive swimming lessons si Marian.

"Talagang natsa-challenge ako sa role kasi hindi naman ako marunong lumangoy, so mag-aaral pa ako. Sabi ni Direk Joyce, hindi lang langoy sa tabi-tabi ng dagat ang gagawin ko. Gusto niya, yung talagang underwater scenes na makikipaglaro ako sa mga makukulay na isda."

Bukod sa pag-aaral lumangoy, nire-ready rin ni Marian ang kanyang katawan para maganda ang dating ni Dyesebel sa TV.

"Okay naman ang weight ko ngayon, medyo slim pero okay naman sa TV. I measure 34-24-36. 'Pag nagge-gain ako ng waight, nagiging 36" ang boobs ko. Ang napapansin ko, kahit pumapayat ako, yung puwet ko, hindi lumiliit, 36 pa rin!" natatawa si Marian.

Marami pang naikuwento si Marian tungkol sa gagawin niyang Dyesebel, nang biglang maisip niyang, "Teka, ewan ko kung dapat ko nang sabihin sa press itong mga naikuwento ko sa inyo, kasi unless ang GMA ang unang magpa-press release, dapat confidential muna," medyo ‘natauhan' si Marian.

"Hindi kaya pagalitan ako nito?" sabi pa niya.

Si Manay Ethel ang nag-assure kay Marian na walang magiging problema. "Magaganda naman ang ikinuwento mo, kaya mas mamahalin ka ng GMA-7," sabay request ni Manay Ethel na magpapakuha siya ng litrato kasama si Marian.

Kung Ako Ikaw and Palos is having a tug-of-war in the 9th position that whoever loses will occupy the 10th spot. Maging Sino Ka Man remained at 11th while ABS-CBN’s newest koreanovela “Marrying A Millionaire” is at no. 12.

Piolo Pascual Tops Batch 4 While Enchong Dee Tops Batch 5 - RP’s Sexiest Men 2008

From a total of 542 votes, Piolo Pascual topped Batch 4 with 36%. Another kapamilya star and one kapuso star are joining him in the next round of RP’s Sexiest Men 2008.

The fifth heat received a total votes of 367 with Enchong Dee topping the list with 32%. Another kapamilya hunk and one kapuso hunk will join him in the next round of RP’s Sexiest Men 2008.

AGB Says ABS-CBN is No. 1 Nationwide in 2007, ABS-CBN Says AGB is Fraud

According to a recent report by AGB Nielsen Philippines regarding the over-all tv ratings for the year 2007, ABS-CBN is the number 1 network in National Urban Television Audience Measurement or NUTAM with 46% against GMA’s 38%. But ABS-CBN believes that AGB Nielsen is no longer accurate as the gathering of ratings were already tampered.

Nevertheless, here are the figures for Luzon, Vizayas and Mindanao:

The figures show that ABS-CBN is the undisputed leader in Vizayas and Mindanao by a landslide. However, GMA was able to take the lead in Luzon by only 2 percent. But Mega Manila remains GMA’s stronghold as the kapuso network garnered 47 percent while ABS-CBN is at 34 percent, a gap of 13% between the rival stations.

Although the rankings of the Top 50 shows in NUTAM for the year 2007 are yet to be released, ABS-CBN’s highest rating shows nationwide (NUTAM) are Sana Maulit Muli, Kokey and Princess Sarah. On the other hand, GMA’s highest rating show nationwide (NUTAM) is Marimar. According to PEP, Marimar is the first GMA-7 primetime soap to notch the top spot consistently in AGB Nielsen’s National Urban Television Audience Measurement or NUTAM which is ABS-CBN’s territory.

KC Concepcion joins Drew Barrymore and Penelope Cruz in the quest to eradicate hunger

Nabalitaan ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na bukas, February 21, KC Concepcion is scheduled to sign on as National Ambassador Against Hunger ng United Nations World Food Program (WFP). Ito'y pagkatapos ng successful visit niya sa Pikit, North Cotabato last February 18, para sa Food for Education program ng WFP. Mismong sa UN office gagawin ang by-invitation-only event sa buhay ni KC.

Bago ito, KC went through a three-month screening process and got approved by three offices—Rome, Vatican, and Thailand. Pangatlo lang siya from Southeast Asia na napili for the said job.

"One of the things we wanna do sana is to make the issue of hunger as important as the issue of aids and poverty. I want sana to have hunger and malnutrition covered in the media at least once a week because it's an issue that is just as important or even more so, but no one is paying too much attention to it," says KC Concepcion.

Kasama na si KC sa illustrious line ng celebrity endorsers, spokespersons, and ambassadors that advocate for the eradication of hunger na kinabibilangan din nina Drew Barrymore, Penelope Cruz, philanthropist Warren Buffet, and US model Lauren Bush. KC Concepcion’s saving grace

KC Concepcion is being built up step by step, with precision and care. This should be the way because she happens to be the daughter of a megastar and had been shielded by her away from the prying public eyes for a long time.

A major teaser came in form of a TV special a few months back featuring the life of an extremely gorgeous young lady, a spitting image of her dad, former matinee idol Gabby Concepcion. It was a television event comparable to a Manny Pacquiao bout which thousands of televiewers saw.

The Up Close and Personal special made KC the most exciting personality ever to grace television. The impact was overwhelming people almost forgot that another major talent from the rival network has signed up with ABS-CBN.

She was Angel Locsin whose teleserye, “Lobo” with Piolo Pascual is trying to inch its way to the top of the ratings chart.

The next big surprise came earning KC public attention when she danced on the air attached to a harness, a most applauded number which stunned and pleased her mom during the latter’s birthday celebration show at the Araneta Coliseum last month.

It was just an icing on the cake, so to speak. When KC made her acting debut on Maalaala Mo Kaya in an episode entitled Mansyon last Friday, viewers witnessed how KC carried on the acting genes of her mom (and maybe her dad). But then, this is TV acting which is so different from movie acting. On television, over the top acting is acceptable but thank God, KC did not dwell on that.

At a certain length, her performance moved us. It is the faulty material which failed to establish the whys and wherefore of certain situations. The plot is mainly about one thing: how she would pay off the debts her dad, who died in a car accident, left. How we wished it was Hilda Koronel who played her mother which could have made that hospital scene most heartbreaking. As for Derek Ramsay, the patient boyfriend, it is nice to see him tackle his role as neatly as possible. Ditto the young actor who played KC’s brother.

No doubt, the next big thing for KC would be the movies. She can sing, dance and do drama and possibly speak different languages, French included. Lindsay Lohan posed naked ala Marilyn Monroe in a pictorial for the February 25 issue of New York Magazine.

The controversial star of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls” was snapped by Bert Stern, the same photographer who took the famous pictures of Marilyn Monroe in 1962, 6 weeks before the blond bombshell died for drug overdose.

Monroe’s most famous pictorial because of her similarity with the icon’s alcohol addiction.

KC Concepcion’s MMK Episode Beats Palos to the Top 10

The highly-anticipated episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya last February 15, 2008, Friday, starring no less than KC Concepcion made it to no. 10 in the primetime race beating Palos. The “Mansyon” episode of the mega-daughter garnered a 17.3 percent rating, which is slightly above the average ratings of previous Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes. It wasn’t remarkable but it was the first MMK episode of 2008 to penetrate the Top 10 in the primetime race, thanks to the dismal rating of Palos last Friday.

Last October 19, 2007, a “must-see” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya registered a remarkable 21.7 percent. The episode was entitled “Pilat” and it starred Sam Milby and Angel Locsin. It was Angel Locsin’s very first acting assignment on ABS-CBN since her transfer. However, the said episode didn’t make it to the Top 10 as it was beaten by Bubble Gang’s 12th anniversary presentation.

GMA-7’s Flash Report last February 17, 2008 made a surprise upset by topping all Sunday daytime programs with 19 percent. A rerun of Happily Ever After in Kapuso Sine Special came in second with 15.9 percent. In the primetime race, Kap’s Amazing Stories topped the list as usual with a 28.8 percent.

A new Koreanovela premiered last night on ABS-CBN entitled “Marrying A Millionaire.” Despite it’s promising plot, it failed to enter the Top 10. GMA’s Coffee Prince was even 2 times stronger with its 31.2 percent. Placing 10th instead was Kung Ako Ikaw with 14.6 percent.

Joaquin Bordado Climbs to No. 2

After dropping to no. 4 last Tuesday, Joaquin Bordado regained the 3rd position last Wednesday night with it’s highest rating so far: 39.7 percent. The Robin Padilla action teleserye even climbed to 2nd place on the night of February 14 beating Richard Gutierrez’ Kamandag. If this trend will continue, Joaquin Bordado is on the track to surpass the 40 percent bracket which is already a remarkable feat nowadays as the battle for audience viewership share is getting stiffer.

Glaiza de Castro: "Give me a chance to prove my worth."

Finally, binigyan ng GMA-7 ng pagkakataon ang young actress na si Glaiza de Castro para magbida sa bagong Sine Novela na Kaputol ng Isang Awit. Hindi nga makapaniwala si Glaiza sa atensiyong ibinibigay ng GMA-7 sa pagkakataong ito.

"Hindi ko inaasahan na pagbibidahin nila ako," sambit ng young actress. "Feeling ko, nananaginip pa rin ako. Role na ginampanan pa ni Sharon Cuneta ang ibinigay sa akin."

Two-year exclusive contract ang pinirmahan ni Glaiza sa Kapuso network. Para sa kanya, kapag hindi nag-click ang Kaputol ng Isang Awit, mahihirapan na siyang may mapuntahan pa.

"Make or break nga kasi ito para sa akin. Kaya dapat ay gawin ko na ang lahat ng makakaya ko rito. Ayokong sayangin ang pagkakataon. Mula nang sabihin sa akin ng mga taga-GMA na ito nga ang assignment ko, nakatutok na talaga ako rito. Ayokong ma-disappoint sila, lalo na ang televiewers na susubaybay sa series," lahad ni Glaiza.

Rival sisters sina Glaiza at Lovi Poe sa nabanggit na teleserye. Threatened ba siya kay Lovi bilang prime antagonist ng Kaputol ng Isang Awit?

"Magaan agad ang dating ni Lovi sa akin," paglilinaw ni Glaiza. "Nakakasama ko na kasi siya noon sa ibang shows ng GMA-7, at walang naging problema sa amin. Ngayon pa lang, ang feeling ko, magkakaroon kami ng rapport. I really have to adjust, kasi sa tunay na buhay, Lovi is very sweet. Pero dito sa series, may pagkamaldita siya.

"Kailangan din niya ng support para ma-pull off niya yung character niya. Kaya kailangang magtulungan kami. Yung mapapanood ng mga tao rito, yung hindi kinasanayan sa amin, kaya inaasahan naming matutuwa sila."

Naipagtapat ni Glaiza sa PEPna ngayon pa lang, marami nang nagtataglay ng fan mentality ang nariringgan niya ng paninira sa kanya.

"Kesyo hindi raw ako deserving, bakit ako pag-aaksayahan ng panahon..." banggit ni Glaiza. "Kung ano lang kasi ang ibinibigay ng GMA-7 sa akin, gagawin ko sa abot ng aking makakaya.

"As far as I'm concerned, hindi ako tumapak ng ibang tao para makuha ang malaking break na ito. Pinagtrabahuan namin ito ng manager ko [Manny Valera]. Nagtiyaga ako sa kung anu-anong roles, at hindi naman ako basta lang nabigyan ng chance from out of the blue.

"Inaasahan ko nang hindi ko mapi-please ang lahat. But at least, give me a chance naman to prove my worth. Kung hindi uubra, that's the time siguro na puwede nila akong punahin. Sa ngayon, wala pa akong pruweba. Sana maghintay muna nila kung ano ang pupuwede kong maibigay," pakiusap ng young actress.

In fairness naman kay Glaiza, napatunayan niyang nakaaarte siya given a very good role, gaya sa digital film na Still Life.

"Natutuwa nga ako kasi maganda ang reviews sa acting ko doon. It's also a way for other people to give me a second look. Baka nga may ibubuga kung magbibida. That's just how I look at it," sabi ni Glaiza.

Take note, wala raw ibang koneksiyon si Glaiza sa GMA-7 other than her manager. At saka hindi siya nakakontrata sa GMA Artist Center.

"Kaya nga para pagbalingan ako ng GMA-7, ibig sabihin, may nakita siguro silang potensiyal talaga sa akin. That's giving me enough confidence. Pero itong negative feedback, kahit hindi pa man nila ako napapanood sa magagawa ko for a teleserye, well, I'm using it to prove to them na kaya ko. All the more na makikita nilang efforts ko, at makaka-inspire ito sa akin for the mind of big break I deserve," pagwawakas ni Glaiza.

Palos Drops to No. 10, Coffee Prince Peaks at 37.6% Rating

On Tuesday’s primetime, TV Patrol climbed to no. 6 nudging Lobo down to no. 8 and Palos to no. 10. GMA’s late night reality show “Kung Ako Ikaw” registered a remarkable 21.5% considering it’s very late timeslot beating the Jake Cuenca-Cesar Montano action series in the 9th position.

GMA’s koreanovela Coffee Prince registered it’s highest rating so far last Tuesday night with 37.6% beating Joaquin Bordado in the 3rd spot. The Robin Padilla starrer debuted at no. 3 last Monday night.

Pacquiao driver's wife takes boxer for a $180,000 ride

Manila: Famous Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao lost $180,000 (Dh660,600) to the wife of his driver who had allegedly forged his (Pacquiao's) signature in a bank in the United States, a local paper said.

When Pia Quijada, the second wife of Pacquiao's driver Joseph Jose, learned how to forge the signature of the Filipino boxer, she systematically siphoned off some $180,000 from his account in Wells Fargo, Sunset Boulevard, said the Standard newspaper.

When Pacquiao opened a bank account with $200,000 in 2006, he had used the address of the Quijada couple in Los Angeles. As a result, Pacquiao's bank statements and used cheques were mailed there.

Investigations showed that Pia started issuing "pay cash" checks in small amounts. She increased the amounts withdrawn from $300 to $1,000 a month.

Once, she withdrew $4,000 a month.

Later, her withdrawals averaged between $11,000 and $12,000 a month. She also transferred some $40,000 from Pacquiao's account to her newly opened account in Wells Fargo, Burbank.

In all, she issued a total of 500 cheques that bore the boxer's forged signature. Her forgery of Pacquiao's signature was not perfect at the beginning of the anomalous transactions, the report said.

Later, she perfected the skill, investigation showed. Investigation began when Vilma Rodriguez, assistant vice president of the Wells Fargo branch in Hollywood, became curious why Pacquiao was regularly issuing cheques even when he was not in the United States.

When Pacquiao went to the US for a training for his rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez in the US on March 15, he personally went to the bank, and helped the investigators.

Samantala, bago ipalabas ang BFGF, pinakita muna ang ads ng future shows ng GMA-7 at kitang-kita ang mukha ni Richard sa Captain Barbell meets Darna.

Ibig sabihin, siya pa rin si Captain Barbell, pero malabo pa ang mukha ni Darna.

Labas na rin nang konti ang mukha ni Dyesebel sa ad ng Dyesebel at mukha ni Marian ang aming nakita.

Toni Gonzaga, napuno niya ang Aliw Theater

Made na si Toni Gonzaga as a concert artist! Napuno niya ang Aliw Theater sa concert niya last Sat. 9 p.m. na nag-start ang show kasi ang haba ng pila sa labas at ang dami pang scalpers na bumnili ng extra tickets.

Opening act niya ang PDA scholars na sina Chad Peralta at RJ Jimenez. Tapos sinimulan na ni Toni ang show niya sa pagbulaga sa isang skimpy two-piece gold outfit na parang panty at bra lang na kina-shock ng lahat!

Kayang-kaya ni Toni na dalhin ang show niya dahil bukod sa napakagaling niyang kumanta at sumayaw ay natural na host siya kaya naman kuwelang-kuwela ang mga spiels niya sa audience.

Napatunayan ni Sam Milby na napakalakas pa rin niya sa tao dahil super ang tilian nang lumabas na siya ng stage.

Kinanta niya ang revival ng Can’t Help Falling In Love na kasama sa kanyang second album. Tapos kinanta na nila ni Toni ang theme song ng movie nilang My Big Love sabay palabas ng trailer sa big screen sa stage.

Kuwela rin ang pasok ng isa pang leading man ni Toni na si Vhong Navarro. Kinanta ni Toni ang novelty hits ni Vhong habang kontodo sayaw si Vhong sa tabi niya. Aba, may upcoming movie rin si Vhong sa Star Cinema na si Toni rin ang leading lady.

Surprise guests naman sina Erik Santos at Allan K kasi hindi sila na-mention sa lahat ng publicities ng show. Nagulat ang lahat ng biglang umakyat ng stage si Allan K kasi isa itong Kapuso.

Pero pinaalala ni Toni na galing siya sa Eat Bulaga noon kung saan kasama niya si Allan K. As usual nagnakaw na naman ng eksena si Allan K lalo pa’t sinabi niya na ie-edit out naman daw siya sa TV coverage ng show ni Toni sa Dos na ikinatawa nang husto ng manonood.

Joaquin Bordado Debuts at No. 3 in Mega Manila

GMA’s Joaquin Bordado, starring Robin Padilla and Iza Calzado, garnered a respectable 36.6 percent on its premiere episode Monday night, February 11, 2008, following Marimar and Kamandag. It occupied Zaido’s timeslot which ended last Friday with a similar ranking of no. 3 in the primetime block.

Placing 6th last Monday was Lobo with a rating of 23.3% The Piolo Pascual-Angel Locsin starrer was also at no. 6 position last Friday nudging Kung Fu Kids down to no. 7 in the primetime race. If this trend continues, Lobo will be ABS-CBN’s over-all no. 1 program this season instead of Kung Fu Kids.

Some tv specials and primers from GMA, which is a non-series, made it to the Top 10 in their respective blocks. The GMA Flash Report: ZTE Scandal was able to place 3rd in the daytime race last Friday, February 8, 2008. Yesterday, the same Flash Report was able to place 6th among the usual tv series.

The Joaquin Bordado primer last Friday, pre-empting Coffee Prince, placed 5th overall with 27 percent. On Saturday’s daytime race, My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend: The Making placed 7th in the Top 9.
